Downy Woodpecker in Spring

Downy Woodpecker in Spring

By Michael Bateman

Downy Woodpeckers have shorter beaks and have black spots on the white portions of their tail feathers, but otherwise they look very much like Hairy Woodpeckers. These guys stick around all winter but as you can see, spring puts a spring in their step just it does for us. Kinnelon, New Jersey, USA
